This is Not a Good Look for Me

Akasha on May 1st 2007

Okay, so I’m all for action figures. I love action figures. If I had the budget for them, I would probably buy a whole lot more than I have. Every time I go into the Silver Snail I end up drooling at the cases of awesome action figures. However, I feel that there is a point where action figures are no longer necessary. For instance, Exhibit A:

What sort of market warrants this type of action figure? Is the ironic knick knack craze so pervasive that they have to reach deeper into the Hollywood vaults in order to sculpt these gems? Poor Andy isn’t alone, unfortunately. You could own the entire Brady Bunch family for $60 USD if you really wanted to. Or for a mere $12.99 USD you too can own a genuine Carl Jung action figure! Yes, you can own a 12 inch plastic model of this Nazi sympathizer if you really want to.

I just feel like this has gone just a little far. Do they really think enough schmoes will buy figures of the Notorious B.I.G.? Soon enough they’ll run out of things to plasticize and they’ll start making figures of criminals like Scott Peterson or idiots who make it into the news for stupid things they’ve done. You know I’ll be the first one to get an action figure of that stalker who nearly ran over Sandra Bullock’s husband. The notoriety of her mug will grace the top of my television for years to come! Of course, the irony of that is it’ll look nothing like her. Plastic is very unforgiving, so I’ve heard.
