Welcome, Spring!

Akasha on Apr 13th 2008

It’s been one of those weeks! I don’t know about your part of the world but spring has really come along this week. It’s been bouncing from April showers to cool, sunny days (like today!) all week and I am loving it. This winter has been TOO long and it so needs to go, lol. So I have several good pieces of news to mention:

1. I’m moving at the end of April! G and I found a place in Toronto and we’re finally taking the plunge by moving in together. It’s exhilarating and nerve-wracking all at once. I’m going from living at home to living with my boyfriend? I would have liked an adjustment period (i.e. living on my own for awhile to “test the waters”, so to speak), but it just doesn’t make sense to move out on my own for a year and then move again to another place with G. Plus, I think we can both handle the changes that will come through living together.

2. I’ve been accepted to Centennial College for the Book and Magazine Publishing programme! I have not decided whether I’ll be going yet, though, because I might have a job with a publishing house already … more details to come once I know things have been finalized. ;)

3. I went to Philadelphia last weekend for a wedding and had a lot of fun. This was my first visit to a major American city and it was a blast! We saw the Liberty Bell, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Eastern State Penitentiary, just to name a few. You’re welcome to see the photo galleries here, here, and here.

So that’s been my life for the past little while. I have been way too busy for my own good and it’s likely not going to change in the next little while either. This week I also made the decision to cut down on my duties at TFL. You’ll likely see the posting soon but I’ll mention it here - I am giving up the FUC and Troubles role for the Movies category. These are the most time-consuming parts of the Movies category and I can feel my control slipping away as I let things build up and up before I update. I don’t want this category to get back-logged so the time has come to step down in that role. I still want to do applications, though, because I still find them a lot of fun! Sometimes you just gotta know when to fold ‘em, though.

Procrastination is the name of the game

Akasha on Apr 24th 2005

I’m being stupid and not working on either my Global Studies essay nor my application for Arne’s research assistant. It doesn’t help that I’ve been taking cold medication all day and it’s messing with my system :X

I’m finished school for the most part now, other than that infernal essay. Silly Arne, he thought he was being nice for giving us an indefinite extension, but really he’s just feeding the procrastinator in me. I intended on finishing it before last Friday, but when I emailed him about dropping it off he never got back to me, so i took that as a sign that I could have until Monday. Now it’s Sunday and I have yet to hit the 2,000 mark, let alone the 3,000 mark which is how long it’s supposed to be :O I know, I’ll have it done by tonight. But I can’t help procrastinating.

Plus, my resume needs to be redone for Arne, and I need a cover letter. Ugh, so much work to be done!

I’ve caught a cold as well, which makes nothing better. I hate having a cold cause it makes me so bloody lazy. I watched Moonstruck for the better half of the day (but I never finished watching it) and the last episode of the Office, which I’m beginning to love more and more.

I also finished up the fanlisting for Florence, Italy. Now all I need is the member’s list from the old owner, so don’t join it yet, if you want to. :)

That’s all, I guess. I’m finished procrastinating, I think ;)

A little down today

Akasha on Feb 28th 2005

I am so bloody tired. It’s not unusual though, since it’s ten to two in the morning, I’ve worked for five hours in HELL and I’ve been staring at this screen for the better part of two and a half hours. :/ Life is teh suck.

Well, no it’s not. I’m learning my new duties at TFL, it’s kinda daunting cause I’ve never done this stuff before and each time I click on something I’m praying that I’m not fucking up some how. I’m worried I’ll get fired for doing some stupid, random mistakes, over and over again. Haha, this is a strictly volunteer position and I’m nervous that I’ll get fired. How sad, n’est pas?

Plus, I’m a little down cause I didn’t get the approval for John Constantine. It sorta makes me hope that I’m getting the movie fanlist, but if I don’t, I’m really, really gonna be sad :( ‘Course, I should just suck it up, it’s only a fanlisting, after all. Who really cares, right? Well, a little part of me does :P

In other FL news, I was approved for David Cross, royal scandals (haha), Paint Shop Pro in adoptions, and the Nazgul (aka Ringwraiths). David Cross is almost done, I haven’t even touched the others though. I seriously need to stop applying and finish these bloody things cause I have other things on my plate (like school, for example). Tomorrow I am off to the library. I need to do some Serious Research for my essays. I also have on more midterm next week. Why so late? No fucking clue. In any event, one more month of school, four exams and then I’m done, bitches! For four months, that is :/ Still, that’ll be four nice months :D

Oh and if you’re wondering what the hell is up with the comments page, I have no clue, whatsoever. I still have to figure that out. Just haven’t had the time nor the energy to do so :P

Two new fanlistings + a big announcement

Akasha on Feb 23rd 2005

Now to some who come here, this may sound like not special news at all, but I’ve become a staff member at The Fanlistings! I’m the applications/finished/moved/closed staffer, to be exact, and I’m more than tickled pink about it. :D

I’m halfway through my Reading week, having not done all that much reading to be honest. I have been catching up on sleep, though, which is beyond awesome. I’ve also been catching up on all of the upcoming fanlistings I’ve managed to garner over the past week or so.

The Shadow of the Vampire fanlisting

The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Suess fanlisting

I have two more that are almost done - only need the members because they are both adopted - and then I’ll have only two left on upcoming, penises (yes, the cock.) and David Cross. Okay, so that’s enough fanlisting talk.

On a totally unrelated note, I bought a sweatshirt today that says, ‘Kiss me, I’m Irish’ across the front. I’m anticipating lots of smooches come St. Paddy’s Day ;) And before you ask, no I’m not Irish. Not even remotely Irish. What? Is there a problem?

Nothing to see here, folks.

Akasha on Feb 1st 2005

My my, it’s been awhile since I updated here, hasn’t it? Apart from a whole lot of nothing, my life has been steadily going by. I have opened up several more fanlistings. In case you’re wondering, here they are:

A Rush of Blood to the Head album fanlisting

the Matt Good fanlisting

the Get Fuzzy fanlisting

Okay, so that was only a few, but it seemed like quite a few had opened up … In any case, I’ll be opening the Middle Earth fanlisting very soon, as soon as I get the members list from Sara, the original owner. I can’t wait to get this fanlisting opened. I skinned it like I did the accents fanlisting, which reminds me! Go visit the accents fanlisting because there are three layouts to choose from now instead of just one :) I hope to make more eventually as well, as soon as the mood strikes me, of course :P

Other than that, my life is boring. Really. School, driving lessons (occasionally), sleeping and fanlistings. How exciting, huh?

Get ‘er doooone

Akasha on Jan 11th 2005

I feel so accomplished when I get things done. Today I had two things on my list of “to-do”: call Epson Tech Support about my printer and call my driving school regarding more lessons and I did them both. Normally I loathe talking to strangers on the phone, usually putting stuff like that off, but today I got it done, I did it :D Tech Support was wonderful; it didn’t solve my problem, but I at least got them to do something about it; I have to send my printer off to get fixed. That’s a new pain in my ass, but at least it’ll be done and over with. The driving school, well .. my instructor was on vacation, that’s why he hasn’t called me to set up the new appointments. That’s kinda iffy, but I suppose we’re all entitled to go on vacation, right? I just wish he would have called me earlier before he left to let me know .. but I suppose it was my prerogative to do that, since I was the last to cancel the appointment, right?

New fanlisting:

Arrested Development’s George Michael Bluth

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Akasha on Dec 23rd 2004

It snowed about twenty centimeters in the Hammer! It’s gonna be a white Christmas!

Hmm, I’m not sure if I like this new layout, but it’s a holiday-ish one for Christmas, which is tomorrow for me since I celebrate on the ‘Eve’ :D I still have a million and one things to wrap now and I have to make my mother’s present still = / Not to mention the fact that I haven’t bought my father anything yet! :O I don’t know how this will work, but by tomorrow night it will officially be all finished and I won’t have to worry about it anymore :D I can’t wait. I’m tired and I need to start doing things, so off I go!

Once again, this is moreso for my information; Fanlistings I need to make:

  • Jackass: the Movie: link
  • Accents
  • French Kissing: link
  • Matthew Good
