Weight Watchers works, just ask Fergie

Akasha on Jul 8th 2004

Does Weight Watchers work? I mean, really? Does it? It’s based on a points system - so I’ve been told. You got alotted a certain number each day, say 28, and you can’t go over the 28 unless you purposely want to gain weight. Yet, you can eat all of the foods you want, so long as you don’t go over those magical numbers. The catch to the program is that the foods you want to eat (pizza, chocolate, last night’s Chinese food) is like 10 points for a small portion. Therefore, if you decide to indulge, you’ll pretty much have to starve yourself for the rest of the day. This is a rip-off. I hate restrictions. Restrictions make me uncomfortable, like they’re sitting in my personal bubble, eating corn chips in front of me like an asshole.

Sleep

Akasha on May 20th 2004

Don’t you hate sitting in front of your computer, staring at a blank blog entry and wondering what the hell you should write? I’ve been doing that a lot lately. I seem to be in a bit of a writing rut. I’ll get out of it eventually but drawing blanks really does annoy.

The beginning of the week sucked majorly cause on Saturday night I managed to screw up my entire sleeping pattern completely. That night I went over to a friend’s place and managed to stay up until four in the morning watching movies. I had a shift the next day at 8 am so I only got about 2 hours of sleep. I had contemplated calling in sick when I got home around 4:30 am but thought that’d be a really shitty thing to do and it would look like I had been drinking all night (which I hadn’t) so I endured the elements and went off to work.

That night I didn’t sleep much either because I just bought my hamster, Valo, and Tatjana slept over and we spent a good while laughing together. When she left the next day I slept until 4 o’clock and that threw me off even more; that night I didn’t get any sleep at all again. Tuesday I waited until 6pm to go to bed so I could get back into the pattern again slowly and I slept until 10:30am the next morning. That pretty much fixed everything I had screwed up so now I’m back on track.

I didn’t know you could do so much damage to your sleep just by staying up late a couple of nights in a row, lol. I was dead for the first half of this week!

Weening myself off of the Internet .. slowly

Akasha on Apr 30th 2004

Hello, hello! It’s been a whole 4 days since I last blogged; I’ve been kinda avoiding it and instead working on writing in my actual journal which has been sitting, neglected for so long. I miss that thing. It’s a simple spiral notebook with a whole slew of different things in it, like my stupid short stories and stuff.

Since Monday I’ve gone to Niagara Falls with my mom, aunt and uncle and I’ve pretty much done nothing else for the rest of the week. Except last night I ventured out into the world to see 13 Going on 30 with Jenn, Rachel and Andre (high school friends). It was so cute! I think Jennifer Garner’s a great actress (though I’ve never seen Alias in my life, lol) and Mark Ruffalo is a hottie.

Speaking of high school, I uploaded my grad picture if you want to see it. It’s located here.

I got a night shift tonight. It sucks.

I hope she kills Bill in the end .. that would suck if she didn’t.

Akasha on Apr 26th 2004

Well, I exercised my first privilege of my summer today by sleeping in until two in the afternoon. I lazily rolled my fat ass out of bed, strolled downstairs, ate a bagel for lunch and then played on the computer until 5 o’clock. I called Tatjana, made plans to see Kill Bill Vol. 2 and then, only then, did I go to the washroom to take a shower.

It was glorious.

As for Vol. 2 I was neither horribly disappointed nor was I thrilled by it. The first half was definitely better than the second, but that’s because all of the really cool stuff was in the first half. The second half was definitely funnier and you finally get to find out the Bride’s name which bothered me. I hate how they bleeped out her name like it was a fucking cuss word.

Anyway, I won’t say anymore in case you haven’t seen it.

One thing that’s been on my mind lately has been old lady hair .. When I was on the bus going downtown today there were quite a few old ladies on board. All of them had the same sort of hair: short, curly and frizzy. Now I understand the frizzy part but what about the curly and short? Is there some sort of code that old ladies have to follow? “In order to be seen in public, after the age of 65 you must shear your hair and curl it every day. The colour may vary to your taste, but no long hair allowed!” That’s just weird.

The exam is done, sans hangover :) I managed to withhold from the drinking last night  My parents on the other hand …

Have been drinking since my aunt and uncle have arrived from Poland. Before you gasp in shock and shake your head in anger, remember that these people are from Poland, where the alcohol pretty much runs free. I get the feeling most of Europe is like that, people just drink and talk and that’s their way of having a good talk. Nothing is better than a good beer, a good conversation and perhaps a little dancing in between. I’m not too upset over this. I probably should be since I’m a nice Canadian girl but whatever, I’ll let them enjoy themselves. Who am I to tell them not to have fun? :drink: :D

 This bitch was giving me the evil eye on the bus on the way home today cause she thought I was looking at her “man”. She was about twice as big as me and she was wearing huge hoop earings with the word ‘bling’ written in the middle of them. Yeah, right. I was looking at her man. :D I was actually playing my old school Nintendo Game Boy and eating a cornmeal muffin the whole time, each time I would look up though she’d be staring at me with these accusatory eyes. I was a little scared

Have you ever been to a karaoke bar? Have you ever wanted to? If you have, what’s your favourite song to sing? I’m going to a karaoke bar tonight with the parents. They’re going to make me sing.
