I’m back! Yes yes, I am back. The skin is a little bronzier, there is sand permanently lodged in my suitcase and I met a boy (a cute boy!). We only had one real night of hard drinking, but that was enough for us. Alex and I were completely alone from Sunday night until Thursday evening because people could only make it on the weekend while I had managed to book off the entire time. I’m glad I was there with Alex though cause she would have been completely alone (ie, no car) for almost four whole days. That would have really sucked.
Most of the people coming were friends of Alex’s from North Bay where she goes to school (Nipissing) so I was meeting people for the first time, which was totally fine with me. I enjoy meeting new people
So yes, onto the exciting weekend: on Friday when everyone had finally arrived, the boys travelled to Southampton to pick up the beer and booze. We started drinking around four o’clock in the afternoon, which is fairly early. We swam, drank, kayaked and made merry into the wee hours of the morning. Highlights for me were the bonfire, dancing in the cottage to a song I can’t remember anymore, Colin wearing my pink aviator sunglasses and a hat that said ‘It’s Mullet Time’ instead of ‘It’s Miller Time’ (like the beer logo), way too much Smirnoff Ice consumption and watching pornography at 2 o’clock in the morning with Alex, Colin and Bernie.
I was supposed to return the next day, but I decided against it since I was hungover and could barely stand up cause I was so tired and queasy. We had watched the entire opening ceremonies of the Olympics the previous day when we got up, while we were waiting for Justus and Bob to finally get to the cottage so on Saturday, since we were all hungover and tired from the night before we watched the entire coverage of the days games.
Finally on Sunday Justus, Bob, Laura and her boyfriend Roman and I all piled into the car, drove down to Brampton and we were dropped off (Laura and I) at the GO bus depo. Justus told us there was a bus running from Brampton to Hamilton, but there wasn’t. Laura and I got hopelessly lost in the middle of Brampton and finally got a ride from these two guys who were willing to take us to Square One where there was a bus station. We caught a bus that took us down to the train station and eventually found our way into Hamilton at midnight. So much for saving time and money. In hindsight it seems like taking the Greyhound from Owen Sound right to Hamilton would have been a much smarter and safer idea, but it’s all in the past now and it’s simply a big adventure.
So that was my week in a nutshell. I really enjoyed myself in Southampton. It’s a pity Bernie goes to Nipissing in North Bay cause he and I really hit it off. Bloody long-distance relationships …. those really, really suck
